I have not read much of this week’s readings yet, so I am answering this question from my perspective. I would say that habit and moral character are intimately interconnected. Habits can affect our moral character and our moral character can affect our habits. I have always thought though that a person’s morals supersede their habits; that even though habits can affect our moral character they cannot manipulate our moral character. I would also say that morals are absolutes. Many would try to say that morals are subject and culture oriented. I would say that morals are not subjective, but our decision to follow or ignore those morals is.

It seems that as of late there is no connection between moral character and politics. However, for me, at least moral character dictates whether I vote for a candidate. I do not care about their economic policies as much as I care about who they are and what they stand for. I think that politics was supposed to originally be the pinnacle of moral character. It was supposed to be the expression of humanity’s moral character.
